Description: The Elkhart County Regional Sewer District is an independent political entity authorized by Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and organized as an independent political entity of the State of Indiana. The District operates as a self-supporting utility and follows modern utility management practices. The District is managed by a board of appointed trustees and the State Board of Accounts.

Function: The district’s function is to provide for the collection, disposal, and treatment of sewage within and without the District. The District may construct and operate sanitary sewer collection systems designed to prevent pollution to the environment through the elimination of inadequate wastewater systems. The District may cultivate orderly growth and expansion of the district’s wastewater (sanitary sewer) services and facilitate activities to provide for future growth and treatment capacity.
